Upon coming to understand the Dharma, he took refuge in the Three Jewels and became known as the Sangharama Bodhisattva (Già Lam Thánh Chúng) — together with Skanda Bodhisattva (Vi Đà Tôn), one of the two great Dharma protectors who guard monasteries and temples. He vowed to safeguard the Dharma, ward off evil spirits and malevolent forces, and prevent corruption or harm from entering sacred grounds, thereby protecting practitioners' devotion to the Buddha and their spiritual cultivation.
