FROM MIND TO FORM, FROM FORM TO SPACE: THE PHILOSOPHY BEHIND DIỆU TƯỚNG AM'S SACRED SPACE CREATION

For decades, modern architecture and interior design have largely been guided by standards of function, aesthetics, and visual trends. A beautiful space has often been judged by its layout, materials, or its ability to reflect the homeowner's lifestyle.

Yet in today's world, as people face growing spiritual and mental pressures, these standards no longer seem sufficient. A house may be beautiful, yet not necessarily bring a sense of peace. A space may be fully equipped with comfort, yet still leave people feeling the absence of a true place of refuge.

Perhaps this is why more and more people have begun seeking spiritual depth within their living spaces — not merely to dwell in, but to heal, connect, and find inner balance. This is also the very foundation of the philosophy that Diệu Tướng Am has pursued for the past 15 years.

FROM MIND TO FORM, AND THE SHAPING OF SPACE: DIỆU TƯỚNG AM'S PHILOSOPHY OF CREATING SPIRITUAL SPACES

EVERY SPACE BEGINS WITH AN IDEA, NOT MERELY WITH FUNCTION

According to Diệu Tướng Am, a living space — especially a sacred worship space — should not begin with questions like "how should the space and functional layout be divided?" or "where should the altar be placed?" Instead, it should begin with truly listening to the homeowner: how they live, what they are searching for, and what emotions the space should nurture within them.

According to Diệu Tướng Am, every sacred space created begins with an idea — a deeply personal story, where hidden longings for connection or the journey back to one's true self gradually take form. This idea does not arise from design trends or a desire for outward display, but from what a person truly wishes to preserve in their spiritual life.

This is precisely what sets Diệu Tướng Am apart: the process does not begin with creating a place that is merely functional or visually pleasing, but with listening deeply to what a person truly wishes to live with in the depths of their soul. Every creation by Diệu Tướng Am, therefore, does not begin with materials or function, but with the very idea shaped by the owner's spiritual aspirations and inner life.

A worship space, therefore, is not simply a place for performing rituals, but becomes the “spiritual heart” of the home — where people connect with memory, where the present meets its origins, and where the visible life joins the deepest, unseen values.

A worship space, therefore, is not merely for performing rituals — it becomes the "spiritual heart" of the home, a place that connects people with memory, the present with its origins, and the visible life with the deepest invisible values.

One story that embodies this philosophy is the journey of Ms. Ngọc Lan, from Tây Hồ, Hà Nội — one of the clients who has walked alongside Diệu Tướng Am throughout its more than 15-year journey of growth and development.

The connection began when she visited the Diệu Tướng Am showroom in Hà Nội and, for the first time, beheld the statue of Bổn Sư Thích Ca Mâu Ni Niêm Hoa Vi Tiếu. The image of the Buddha holding up a lotus flower at the Linh Sơn assembly — a symbol of inner awakening and pure, true mind — struck a deep chord within her.

That moment awakened within her a clear aspiration: to create a sacred worship space in her own home — not only to honor the Triple Gem, but to become a place of peace for the mind, a constant reminder for herself and her family to return to spiritual practice amid modern life.

For Ms. Lan, this space needed to begin with its most important spiritual center: a 1.4-meter gold-gilded bronze statue of Bổn Sư Thích Ca Mâu Ni Niêm Hoa Vi Tiếu. However, in her previous home, the architecture and layout were not yet suited to properly enshrine the statue as she had envisioned. From there, a major decision gradually took shape — to create an entirely new living space, one that could fulfill her heartfelt wish to manifest the "realm within the mind" she had long aspired to. After more than a year, the project came into being, bringing its owner both deep joy and pride.

DIỆU TƯỚNG AM AND 15 YEARS OF CREATING LIVING SPACES WITH SPIRITUAL DEPTH

Founded in 2011, after more than a decade of growth, Diệu Tướng Am has become an ecosystem dedicated to creating sacred spaces, with over 1,000 one-of-a-kind projects — each one reflecting the unique life story of the homeowner it was created to embody.

Today, the brand is present in more than 20 countries, with over 1,000 sacred spaces created, and an ecosystem that has expanded into media, cultural research, and community initiatives.

But beyond scale or the number of projects completed, what Diệu Tướng Am ultimately pursues remains a core value: creating spaces capable of nurturing the spiritual life of modern people. For in a world of ever-increasing motion, what people need most is sometimes not another place to live, but a place that helps them return to themselves.
