In the book "Mind & Way – Contemplations on Life in Buddhism" by Ajahn Sumedho (translated by Susanta Nguyễn), it is written:

"When you look upon and contemplate an image of the Buddha, you see the image of someone composed, awake, and at peace. He looks out upon the world and sees all things. He is aware of life but is not infatuated with it nor attached to it. He is neither passionate nor despondent. He embodies the strength of one who is perfectly calm and able to see all things exactly as they are, and contemplating the Buddha's image is the best way to awaken these noble qualities within your own heart. As you contemplate the Buddha's image, you will feel peaceful and still.
