BUDDHIST AFFAIRS & LIFE: TALK "THE BUDDHA IN LIFE" - VENERABLE THICH DAO THINH
On April 13th, Diệu Tướng Am was delighted to host the talk "THE BUDDHA IN LIFE," shared by Venerable Thich Dao Thinh. This talk also marked the opening event of the "BUDDHA MIND" talk series at Diệu Tướng Am Hanoi, held in reverence of the upcoming Vesak Festival, PL2567.
"The true meaning of the Buddhist path is not that there is a Buddha residing within the mind, but rather that upon enlightenment, 'that very mind is Buddha.' In 'THE BUDDHA WITHIN,' Venerable Thich Dao Thinh shared with the assembled lay Buddhists, in preparation for the Vesak Festival, the path of cultivation and the awakening of the Buddha-mind. Our inherent Buddha-nature is the true meaning of 'the Buddha born within the heart,' and the ritual of Bathing the Buddha during Vesak is, in essence, the bathing of the Buddha within ourselves — washing away all afflictions of the mind so that we may return to a life of peace and ease in the present moment. To keep the mind rightly directed and to persevere steadfastly in practice, Buddhists are encouraged to set up a solemn and dignified space for enshrining the Buddha, complete with ritual implements, and to diligently practice 'Bathing the Buddha Within' in order to attain peace and happiness.
/Today we bathe the Tathagata
Whose radiant wisdom brings boundless merit
While sentient beings of the three realms remain adrift
May they behold the Dharma-body manifest in this world/.
