In the joyful atmosphere of the year's final days, Diệu Tướng Am Buddhist Art Space was honored to accompany the Phật sự Online Radio-Television Channel in filming the talkshow “Vietnamese Buddhist Culture Nurturing the National Soul.” The talkshow featured the participation of Ven. Thich Tho Lac and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Vinh.

During the talkshow, Ven. Thich Tho Lac and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Vinh offered profound insights into the relationship between Vietnamese Buddhist culture, national culture, and the spiritual character of the Vietnamese people.

Ven. Thich Tho Lac is Head of the Central Culture Committee of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha and Standing Vice Chairman of the Executive Board of the Vietnam Buddhist Sangha in Nghe An Province.
Vietnamese Buddhism has shared the same ebbs and flows as the nation's history, bestowing upon the Vietnamese people distinctive spiritual and cultural values. Given the long history of Buddhism's introduction into Vietnam, its fundamental teachings have deeply permeated the thinking of past generations of Vietnamese ancestors. This influence is clearly reflected in daily habits and ways of life, gradually shaping the customs and traditions of the Vietnamese people.

The imprint of Buddhism on the spiritual life of the Vietnamese people is also vividly expressed through folk sayings, proverbs, and traditional legends—reflecting the intimate bond between Buddhism and national culture. Through the lens of folk culture, Buddhist teachings such as the law of cause and effect, reincarnation, happiness and suffering, and compassion beyond ego have been widely disseminated among the people in a gentle, flexible, and memorable way, deeply infused with a distinctly Vietnamese character.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Vinh - Director of the Tran Nhan Tong Institute, Vietnam National University, Hanoi
Buddhist culture, in resonance with national culture, creates a powerful spiritual vitality and contributes to building a progressive society brimming with compassion. Where national culture upholds the spirit of filial piety, Buddhist culture offers the Four Great Debts of Gratitude; where our nation embraces the spirit of solidarity, Buddhism offers the Six Harmonies; where the nation is imbued with a spirit of altruism, Buddhism offers the awakening of others; and where the nation teaches us to shelter one another like leaves protecting leaves, Buddhism guides us toward compassion, loving-kindness, joy, and equanimity.

Amid the digital age, Ven. Thich Tho Lac and Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Tien Vinh proposed directions for developing Buddhist culture in a way that evolves alongside contemporary life while remaining true to age-old customs and traditions, and that harmonizes gracefully with the values connecting it to national culture.

Guests attending the talkshow also expressed their delight and satisfaction with Diệu Tướng Am's meticulous preparation. Each guest felt a sense of peace and ease while admiring the deeply beneficial spiritual spaces on display.

We warmly invite you to watch and visit Diệu Tướng Am for a deeper, more meaningful experience of these serene spaces of Buddhist culture and art.
