Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva is a great being who assists Amitabha Buddha in proclaiming the True Dharma in the Western Pure Land. He constantly radiates the light of his wisdom upon all beings, helping sentient beings throughout the ten directions overcome suffering and swiftly attain rebirth in the Land of Ultimate Bliss.
While practicing the Bodhisattva path, guided by the noble ideal of delivering all beings and an unyielding spirit in the face of hardship, Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva vowed that for as long as suffering endures in this world, he would tirelessly continue his work of saving sentient beings and guiding them to the shore of enlightenment. For this reason, sentient beings often praise him thus:

/Whoever recites his name and cultivates diligently,
He appears according to conditions, manifesting in response,
Leading the deluded across, and raising up the awakened.
Namo Mahabala Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva./

Today, Buddhist followers commemorate the feast day of Mahasthamaprapta Bodhisattva on the 13th day of the 7th lunar month, the day of the Bodhisattva's birth. On this day, disciples of the Buddha and those inclined toward the Dharma pay homage, chant sutras, make offerings, and revere his merits and vows.

Together with this, everyone turns their hearts wholeheartedly toward the Dharma, studying the Buddha's teachings and applying them in daily life to bring benefit to themselves and others. In addition, Buddhist followers perform many good deeds, speak kind words, release captive animals, give alms, and sow further seeds of virtue and wholesome karma into the world. Every good deed is the root of a tree of virtue, which will bear sweet and wholesome fruit — something all who study the Buddha's teachings should strive to cultivate and expand.
